Terry Taylor's soundtrack work for The Neverhood (I just decided, upon reflection) changed my life completely. Seriously, all hyperbole aside, the idea that somebody got paid to make music perfectly suited to a computer game that, seemingly, would appeal to me completely and me alone... well, it gave me hope. Perhaps it was the lifeseed that grew into my current unkillable optimism? Who knows?? Anyway, the music has been gloriously reissued in a deluxe 2CD set, available here. Buy it if you like music and are not afraid of fun.

I would like to thank Kevin for introducing me to Mr. Taylor. It's the best thing ever and it makes car trips bearable. !!!
Hey, I make car trips bearable too...
Obligatory "I remember that but don't really know how to reply to your post kinda" type of comment coming up.
I used to love The Neverhood (and Skullmonkeys to a much lesser extent due to it being a. a slightly crap game and b. it being on the playstation which for some reason couldn't make 2D platformers look too hot. I tried to describe The Neverhood to various people but they didn't get it. Bastards. I also remember the music being absolutely wicked as it was part of the whole new "multimedia" experience when PCs got CDROM drives and speakers and stuff (mmm wow yeah Simon The Sorceror 2 with a guy actually speaking!)
(I don't remember if it was Skullmonkeys or Neverhood that had this music in it that often comes into my head at a truly random moment: "bip bap bo - bip bap be-do-be-do")
that music ("Beep Bop Bo Shards") is the menu music for Skullmonkeys. you got to hear it a lot trying to put in your passwords. heh heh, passwords!
