Abandoned In Japan

Check out this fabulous gallery of abandoned Japanese places. (Text is Japanese, but the navigation is fairly straightforward.) I'm particularly fascinated by the amusement parks. I can't wait for more to go online (or "ONAIR")... but if you can't wait either, here's a bonus link to a few similar explorations, translated into English.

Video + Crab = Videocrab

Welcome! This is a "blog" that will someday, provided it eats its fruits and vegetables and gets a lot of exercise, be a whole entire website. I've been wanting to do this for quite some time, but I couldn't think of a good domain name. My websites (and also myself) were historically called Kevspace, but after briefly owning kevspace.com it was stolen under me and registered until 2006 by some guy who isn't even using it.

I needed a name that was available, impossible to misspell, unlikely to be misheard, relatively short, and meaningful to me in some way. After becoming desperate and discovering to my astonishment that cyberstupid.com and rocketsurgery.com were ALREADY TAKEN, the name videocrab.com came to me out of the blue. "It's perfect!" I didn't declare aloud. Why Videocrab? Because, um, I like video games, and I also like crabs.

I registered videocrab.com and got myself all excited, to the point where I mentioned it in a conversation with my mother.

"Videocrap?" she asked.

So much for the "unlikely to be misheard" thing. But it all works out in the end, because "Videocrap" is probably a more accurate name anyhow. ONLY TIME WILL TELL!
