I've quizzed just about everyone I know, but nobody can help me. I've been looking at this actual Garfield comic for weeks now, trying to come up with some explanation for the punchline that doesn't involve Jon... how can I put this delicately... drinking dog semen. That just CAN'T be the joke. Somebody please help me. There's got to be something simple and boring and unfunny that I'm missing.

Oh yeah, also, I sincerely doubt the vet's comment was meant to indicate that Jon had just chugged doggy-nummies. Her main role in the comic is to give Jon a hard time - if I remember correctly, he likes her, but she always end up treating Garfield more like a person and Jon like the pet, or worse. SO, to say that he should be expecting puppies is probably only that, and his "come-barfing" reaction is just bitter disbelief in the idea that someone might treat him that way. Very much like Jon. In addition, your theory is ludicrous because a man connot get pregnant from DRINKING sperm. It has to go in your uterus, or something.
